ANNA BEER studies Rewi and is a student assistant at the University of Graz. She deals with international and constitutional law in the context of foreign policy and digitalisation.
NICOLAI WACHMANN studies Rewi and Theology at the University of Graz. His research interests focus on the impact of cultural and religious factors on security policy and IB.
We publish articles in the scientific spectrum from security to defence policy. The editorial assistance is recognised as a compulsory internship at Global Studies.

The Center on International Cooperation (CIC) at New York University seeks a Program Officer (Researcher) to independently produce research at a high-quality level, under supervision of the Program Director Multilateral Reform Program. The Program Officer, under the guidance of the Program Director, takes a lead role in the development and drafting of reports, fact sheets, project proposals and other written publications. The Program Officer is also able to develop programmatic objectives and strategies; manage various, discrete aspects of program development and implementation, problem solve, maintain knowledge-based research networks and contacts, and identify new frontiers of knowledge and funding sources. The program officer is able to conceive high level, innovative approaches to engage stakeholders, independently put together high-level events and manage workflows.
The ASCL has an active visiting fellowship programme. Selected fellows will be able to make use of our excellent library, collaborate and network with colleagues, and participate in our regular seminars.
Requirements
In order to be eligible for a Visiting Research Fellowship, the applicant has to meet all of the following criteria.
He or she must:
- Hold a PhD degree, by the time of applying;
- Have conducted research, as part of the PhD and/or in later projects; with a focus on Africa;
- Be actively pursuing an academic/research career;
- Have published books, book chapters and/or journal articles in recent years that meet international standards;
- In accordance with visa regulations, be ready to return to the country of which he/she is a citizen and/or a current resident upon completion of the fellowship.

The aim of the programme is to enable junior European professionals to gain a first-hand experience in the work of EU Delegations and an in-depth understanding of their role in the implementation of EU external policies.
Every two years, the EEAS and the EC open a call for expression of interest. For the round 2023 - 2025, there were 67 JPD positions available in different EU Delegations.

DCAF’s Business and Security Division works with business, governments and communities to improve security, sustainable development and respect for human rights. We are a strategic implementing partner for both the Montreux Document and the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers (ICoC) and an Observer to the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPs). For the period from 16 September 2025 until 15 July 2026, the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) seeks to recruit nine trainees to assist in its research, event organisation and outreach activities. Seven trainees will be based at EUISS Paris Headquarters, and two trainees will be based at the EUISS Brussels Liaison Office.
The EUISS traineeships provide a unique opportunity for university graduates and young professionals to develop research skills, acquire experience working in an EU agency, gain exposure to policy-oriented research, and deepen their understanding of EU foreign and security policy mechanisms and priorities. The EUISS traineeships programme promises to be an interesting and rewarding opportunity for career and personal development.
Throughout the duration of their traineeship at the EUISS, trainees work closely with a designated member of the Institute’s analyst team who will act as their mentor and supervisor.
